About Warlock Corvis Nocturnum

Born in May of 1971, great-grandson of a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Freemason, Corvis Nocturnum began his foray into the dark and decadent world of professional art in the year 2000 as Darkartist V. Heavily influenced by artists such as Brom, Joseph Vargo, Luis Royo and Dorian Cleavenger, this self taught renaissance man combined gothic ambiance with tastefully erotic imagery. His works have been featured on covers of books, music catalogs, in galleries and in Julie Strain's Nightmare on Pinup Street (published by Heavy Metal).
A long time scholar of occult and Asian philosophy as well as the works of Carl Jung, Friedrich Nietzsche and Anton LaVey, Corvis became ordained as a reverend by the Universal Life Church while holding a co-chair (and later Vice President) position within the Fort Wayne Pagan Alliance (an all faith tolerance organization). During his tenure with the FWPA he co-owned and operated an occult store, which also acted as a meeting place for the group, for several years. In addition, during this time, Corvis assisted as Vendor Coordinator at three annual Pagan Pride Day events.
Corvis had been a long time fan of Anton LaVey's teachings and had studied much about his life. He researched the Church of Satan, and seeing that they were like-minded individuals, decided to join the organization as a citizen of the Infernal Empire in June 2004. He was promoted to the status of Warlock on April 11, 2007 (the anniversary of Anton LaVey's birthday).
Best known for his debut book Embracing the Darkness; Understanding Dark Subcultures, a cross examination of prominent (and not so prominent) denizens of misunderstood dark counter cultures, it features interviews with Monolith Graphics' Joseph Vargo and Christine Filipak, occult/vampire expert and fellow Dark Moon Press affiliate Michelle Belanger (author of the Psychic Vampire Codex, the Psychic Energy Codex and many more), "The Vampire" Don Henrie of Sci-Fi Channel's Mad Mad House (among other television appearances including A&E's documentary Biography: Vampires), current Church of Satan High Priest Magus Peter H. Gilmore, Playboy and Fetish model Bianca Beauchamp, gothic clothing designer Kambriel, Geoff Kayson (founder of the occult jewelry retailer Alchemy Gothic), members of the dark metal band URN and countless others.
"I am a proud member of the CoS as well as the Goth, vampire, Pagan and bdsm/fetish communities," says Nocturnum. "I feel the gothic aesthetic of the Byronic antiquity goth and the 'decadence meets intellect' of Satanism is where Friedrich Nietzsche demonstrates himself clearly as a forefather of Goth through Apollonian/Dionysian balance. Many of the groups that I belong to spill over into each other and I felt that there needed to be literature out there letting this be known. I have often been told that I embody the amalgamation of all of these groups in my chosen style of clothing, intellectual concepts and general attitude."
Corvis has been a speaker at a World Religions Seminar at the Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne where he enlightened the gathered individuals about Satanism. He has also been a repeated guest of Dr. Ed Craft on Magick Mind Radio.
In his free time Corvis enjoys creating stunning works of fantasy, pagan, and gothic artwork. He enjoys oil painting most of all. He continues to challenge himself not just artistically but also in the literary world with new writings. He is currently working on new books including some possible fiction. He also writes for The Ninth Gate Magazine.
